Discovering the Allure of Handmade Wedding Jewellery for Residents of the UK
Lots of the allure of handcrafted wedding jewellery is derived from the personal contribution that a designer can provide in styling them. A bride might choose to make a design decision, pick someone who can do it, and let things progress from there. There is no reason brides cannot have major control of this endeavour. Sometimes, a bride wants to turn to the more vital parts of the wedding and wants the designer to make most of the decisions in conjunction with the bride’s personal style. Among the fashionable items worn by brides are headpieces such as handmade wedding tiaras. A tiara can enhance both the hairstyle and features of a bride. One tiara a bride might select is known as the Astor Flower Tiara. This tiara can prove a great compliment to any dress, and includes a centrally-placed flower crafted from Swarovski crystal. Another potentially appealing option may be the timeless piece known as the Audrey Tiara. This classic is covered in freshwater pearls, along with Swarovski crystals.

Vintage Wedding Jewellery
Ideally this would be an old family heirloom from the bride’s mother or grandmother’s jewellery box, but this isn’t always available so buying some vintage wedding jewellery becomes an option. Whether it is a necklace or pendant, bracelet, earrings, brooch or charm, the choice of jewellery always needs to take into account the wedding dress and the outfit as a whole.

Wedding Blues Jewellery by JanMary Designs
Imentioned before the summer about a wedding jewellery order I had received. As the wedding is now over, I can share what I created for the Big Day, and 2 of the lovely bridesmaids (mother and daughter). In total I made a necklace for the mother of the bride in pinks to match her outfit and three bridesmaids necklaces in blues to co-ordinate with their dresses. For each necklace I crocheted strands of swarovski crystals on fine silver-plated wire, and then intertwined the strands and added a “blingy” catch to each. The wedding reception was in Belfast Castle, where my parents had their wedding reception nearly 50 years ago. The bride, mother of the bride and bridesmaids were all delighted with their creations, and I am pleased to report I have already received enquiries about future weddings, based on this wedding. If you would like to commission some unique jewellery (jewelery) for a special occasion, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Choosing Your Wedding Jewellery
When it comes to purchasing jewellery for your wedding there is such a wide variety of beautiful pieces it can be difficult to narrow down your favourites. It is a task which requires a significant amount of effort on your part, but one which will be worthwhile. Necklaces made from diamonds or pearls are a common choice, as is the traditional hand-me-downs from mothers and grandmothers. It is not unusual for the groom’s family to also offer up a family member’s heirloom. Not only will the bride wear a matching set of earrings and a necklace but there are also charm bracelets and ankle bracelets to take into consideration as well. It’s not just the bride who has to think carefully about jewellery and accessories C it is important that the groom makes a special effort to look for matching cufflinks, a watch and of course the all important wedding ring. The same should apply to the groom’s ushers and best man as they will also need to find matching jewellery accesories.

According to Kulhalli, wedding jewellery accounts for at least 50 percent of the entire Indian jewellery market, which is over Rs.1,00,000 crore. And with this initiative, the brand hopes to expand its market share, especially in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. At the moment, most people still subscribe to family led jewellers. But with this collection, we are aiming at a pan-India interest as there is something for everyone out of those nine communities. Often, people like to wear jewellery specific to another region. So we are a one stop shop now, said Kulhalli. He said their decision to focus on just nine regions for the launch is based on the number of people in the community, importance of jewellery in their weddings and the scale of their weddings. For now, we have started with these regions. But we want to expand each year after more research about the areas, he added.
